Problems for Refugees

Hi. This is Katelinn. It is my first year at Northwood, and I am a senior.

In the first week of February, the class looked at different problems for refugees from traveling, shelter, and over-crowding to health. We organized all the problems into a web and came up with different ways to solve these problems like making an app, physically building something, and making a video(visual). As a class, we will split up into groups to brainstorm how to solve these problems.

To generate ideas, we looked at different precedents like the life straw (a water filter within a straw), re-usable paper water filters, and a low-cost light fixture for refugee housing that can be made from recyclable materials.

The Life Straw filters dirty water and eliminates harmful bacteria.
